Thieves steal Rolex from Napoli winger Alisson Santos's home and flee in his car

The break-in

Thieves entered the Giugliano in Campania home of Napoli winger Alisson Santos during the night, while the Brazilian and his wife were asleep. Santos woke to the noise of the intruders and realised they were already inside the house. A Prefecture statement reported on the morning of 25 October said he noticed the burglars as soon as he woke. According to Il Giornale, his response kept the theft from being even heavier. The gang fled with a Rolex watch and a necklace that belonged to his wife. The case has renewed attention on the safety of Napoli players, whose homes are often targeted by thieves hunting for valuables.

Car recovered and inquiry

The thieves took the keys to the car parked on the property and drove off in it with the stolen items. Carabinieri from the Marano radiomobile section found the vehicle shortly afterwards in Villaricca, a neighbouring municipality. Santos contacted the police immediately, and officers of the Giugliano police station took the complaint and opened an investigation. Police believe the raid was carried out by a group of several people. State Police officers also visited the house to carry out an inspection and forensic work.

Prefect orders tighter patrols

The Naples prefect, Michele Di Bari, has ordered a sharp increase in surveillance across residential areas and the main roads of the north of the metropolitan city. The stated aim is to prevent property crimes and to strengthen residents' sense of safety. The measure follows a string of thefts affecting the area. The issue will be examined in detail at the next meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security. Mayors of the affected municipalities are to be invited to that meeting, where further strategies against widespread crime will be defined.

Santos's situation and transfer

Santos is currently sidelined by an injury, and on 24 October he watched from the stands as Napoli drew with Roma, sitting alongside fellow Brazilian David Neres. He joined Napoli from Sporting Lisbon in the winter transfer window, initially on loan. Napoli then bought him permanently in the summer. The deal involved an initial investment of 3.5 million euros, followed by a further 16.5 million euros for the permanent purchase.
