Rai names Claudia Di Pasquale to co-host Report alongside Daniele Piervincenzi

Italian public broadcaster Rai has designated investigative journalist Claudia Di Pasquale to co-host its flagship current-affairs program Report alongside Daniele Piervincenzi. Paolo Corsini, the director of Rai In-Depth (Approfondimento), announced the appointment on September 3 following internal discussions at the network's Via Teulada offices in Rome. The decision followed the formal withdrawal of reporter Giulia Presutti, who submitted her resignation from the hosting role via email earlier in the day. Corsini confirmed that the management intends to air the upcoming season on November 8, 2026, maintaining a dual-anchor format to succeed longtime host Sigfrido Ranucci.

Newsroom reaction and editorial dispute

The appointment resolved days of internal opposition from the Report editorial team regarding editorial independence and managerial oversight. Senior investigative correspondents Bernardo Iovene and Giulio Valesini had rejected offers to become chief authors in protest over the initial host lineup. Staff members had warned of potential mass resignations if management confirmed the original roster without newsroom agreement. Corsini met directly with the journalists in a ninety-minute assembly from which both Presutti and Piervincenzi were excluded. Di Pasquale began her journalism career in 2000 writing for various newspapers and periodicals before winning the Mario Formenton journalism scholarship in 2006. She worked as an investigative reporter on La7's program Exit between 2007 and 2011, earning a finalist selection at the 2009 Ilaria Alpi awards for reporting on Sicilian regional elections. Di Pasquale joined Report in 2011, producing investigations under founder Milena Gabanelli and subsequent editorial teams. She received the Premiolino in 2019 for an investigation into San Marino and the SIS 118 emergency journalism award in 2020 for healthcare reporting. Her past investigations examined financial costs for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, the sale of Rome's Carlo Forlanini hospital to the Vatican, European supply chains for AstraZeneca vaccines, and medical errors surrounding a frozen pediatric heart transplant.
