Liam and Noel Gallagher premiere Oasis reunion documentary in Venice

Liam Gallagher, 53, and Noel Gallagher, 59, arrived together on the Venice Lido on Saturday to attend the world premiere of their comeback documentary. Rather than following the conventional festival protocol of arriving by official car to pose before photographers, Liam Gallagher walked out directly from the entrance of the festival palace. He moved toward hundreds of gathered fans to distribute fist bumps and autographs, while Noel Gallagher followed shortly after to greet supporters. The band's 1995 hit "Wonderwall" played across the Lido as the brothers embraced, held hands, and laughed together in public.

The comeback documentary

Titled "Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger", the film documents the rock group's sold-out reunion tour staged across Cardiff, São Paulo, and Manchester. Co-directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the project features the first joint on-camera interview given by the Gallagher brothers in more than 20 years. The screenplay was written by Steven Knight, who is also currently writing the next James Bond feature film. The documentary focuses on the personal meaning of the band's catalog for audiences, incorporating footage of concert attendees reflecting on tracks such as "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Acquiesce". The concert sequences capture fans singing, crying, and embracing one another during performances from the previous year. Several interviewees in the film explain using specific songs to navigate personal hardship or to commemorate long-standing friendships.

They are British working-class men, so they will neither exchange high fives nor hug or cry.

Reconciliation after fifteen years

The production explores how the two musicians ended a 15-year dispute that began with their acrimonious split. The brothers reconciled in 2024 without engaging in extensive formal discussions, choosing instead to let their shared musical background rebuild their relationship. In the documentary, Liam Gallagher reflects that his previous difficult behavior stemmed in part from missing his brother during their years of estrangement. Noel Gallagher explains on camera that past grievances fell away naturally once they resumed working together.

Noel Gallagher added that the specific personal habits that once caused tension between them had completely disappeared. Liam Gallagher described their creative connection as the primary force behind their return to the stage.

Both musicians then skipped the scheduled afternoon press conference without issuing an explanation for their absence, an unusual step for festival attendees. Director Will Lovelace spoke to the media room alone alongside the production team to address their sudden departure.
