Hovland leads Gerard by one stroke at East Lake

Viktor Hovland took a one-stroke lead into Sunday's final round of the PGA Tour season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. Hovland, who entered Saturday tied with American Ryan Gerard at 10 under par, birdied the 17th and 18th holes to shoot a five-under-par 65 and reach 15 under par. Gerard carded a 66 after birdying the 18th hole to remain in second place at 14 under par. World number one Scottie Scheffler produced a bogey-free round of 66 to move to 12 under par, sharing third place with Adam Scott, Ludvig Aberg, and Chris Gotterup. English pair Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick both signed for one-under-par 69s, leaving them tied at eight under par.

Scheffler targets Woods on career money list

Scheffler entered the final round needing more than $600,000 at East Lake to surpass Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour all-time career money list. Woods has occupied the top spot for 26 years since February 2000, accumulating $120,199,166 across 82 PGA Tour victories. Any finish in the top 13 secures the earnings record for Scheffler, who has won 21 Tour events. The $40 million tournament awards $10 million to the winner, $5 million for second place, $3.7 million for third, and $3.2 million for fourth. The official money list excludes non-purse income, including FedEx Cup bonus payouts, the Player Impact Program, and endorsements. Adjusted for inflation using the U.S. Consumer Price Index, Woods's career total equals $202.8 million. Behind Woods, Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy on the all-time list are Justin Rose at $78.89 million and Justin Thomas at $74.57 million.

McIlroy shoots 63 to climb into top ten

Rory McIlroy mounted a charge on Saturday with a seven-under-par 63, the joint lowest round of the third day. After a three-putt bogey on the par-three second hole, McIlroy birdied four of the next five holes and added three consecutive birdies on holes 15, 16, and 17 to finish tied for seventh at 10 under par with Cameron Young. McIlroy sits third on the career money list at $117.85 million, trailing Woods by $3.15 million. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and Alex Fitzpatrick sit at seven under par following rounds of 67. Robert MacIntyre also carded a 63 while playing alone in a 29-man field, reduced after JJ Spaun withdrew during the opening round with an injury.
