Practice owner and pathologist Ilias Theodoropoulos, together with his wife, a gynaecologist, gave statements to officers at Kypseli police station before being released at 23:40 on Wednesday night. Theodoropoulos told investigators that his wife handled the operational management of the stem cell practice and administered the treatments.

Medical specialists stated that plasmapheresis is a complex hospital-based procedure requiring central venous catheters to remove plasma containing harmful substances, and is not an authorized anti-aging or cosmetic treatment. Police investigators scheduled inspections of the Karneadou Street facility and summoned two clinic employees to provide witness testimony regarding the events.

Career milestone and artistic tributes

Mazonakis had planned an anniversary concert titled '33 chronia apo to A eos to O' at the Technopolis venue in Athens for 20 September 2026, marking 33 years since beginning his professional recording career in 1993. The artist had discussed recent personal challenges in a televised interview on the program Tet-a-Tet, mentioning an involuntary hospital admission to Dromokaiteio in August 2025 and disputes involving family members. Following the announcement of his death, figures across the Greek music industry posted public tributes. Composer Michalis Hatzigiannis, who wrote the music for Mazonakis's performance on the 2022 album Paidi Diko Sou, expressed his sorrow online.
