Following the defeat, Chancellor Merz visited the German locker room as planned. During a half-time interview on Pro7, Merz commented on the spectator atmosphere and linked it to national sports initiatives.

Germany returns to the court 22 hours after their opener to face Japan at the Max-Schmeling-Halle on Saturday at 18:00. The team concludes group play on Monday at 17:50 against Mali.
