MotoGP unveils 22-race 2027 calendar with Adelaide street circuit and Buenos Aires return

Dorna has published the 2027 MotoGP schedule featuring 22 rounds across five continents, introducing an Adelaide street race, welcoming back Buenos Aires, and dropping Hungary.

Global schedule and new destinations

Motorcycle racing promoter Dorna released the official 2027 MotoGP world championship calendar on 25 September 2026, scheduling 22 Grand Prix rounds across five continents. The campaign opens at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, from 5 to 7 March 2027, and concludes at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, Valencia, from 26 to 28 November 2027. Qatar returns to the opening stage of the championship as the second round from 12 to 14 March 2027 at Lusail, after geopolitical developments in the Middle East forced a provisional postponement of the race to November during the 2026 season. Brazil hosts round three at the Autodromo Ayrton Senna in Goiania from 2 to 4 April 2027, preceded by the official season presentation in Rio de Janeiro. Meanwhile, the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park, featured on the 2026 schedule, has been removed from the 2027 lineup entirely.

Shift to Adelaide and South American rounds

The 2027 calendar incorporates two venue additions, expanding the championship footprint in South America and Oceania. Argentina returns to the schedule for the fourth round between 9 and 11 April 2027 at the Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez in Buenos Aires, forming a back-to-back South American leg with Brazil. Australia transitions its Grand Prix from Phillip Island to a new street circuit located in the heart of Adelaide, which will stage the 21st and penultimate round from 12 to 14 November 2027. The race organization characterized the urban venue as an important addition to the late-season calendar.

Following Adelaide, the season heads directly to Valencia for the traditional championship decider.

Technical overhaul and supplier changes

The 2027 season coincides with a revised technical rulebook that alters bike specifications across the premier class. Engine displacement limits drop from 1,000cc to 850cc as part of the regulatory transition designed to modify performance parameters. The technical package also introduces Pirelli as the official tire supplier for the MotoGP category, replacing the previous supplier arrangement. These modifications accompany aerodynamic and chassis adjustments intended to redefine competition dynamics across all 22 race weekends.

Circuit officials in Jerez described the upcoming technical era as an important competitive reset for teams and manufacturers.

European calendar reshuffle and summer pause

The European tour opens at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto in Spain for round six from 7 to 9 May 2027, taking place in May rather than its late April slot from the previous four editions. Several European rounds have swapped dates, with Catalunya moving from May to 13 June 2027, the Czech Grand Prix at Brno shifting to 18 July 2027, and Austria at Spielberg shifting to 29 August 2027. MotorLand Aragon moves from late August to 19 September 2027, following the San Marino round at Misano on 12 September 2027. The annual summer hiatus begins after the Czech event on 18 July 2027 and concludes when track action resumes for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on 13 August 2027. Portugal's round in Portimao moves from its late November date to 1-3 October 2027, preceding the overseas flyaway sequence across Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia.
